Overview

Who MentorDrop is for

Last reviewed: · MentorDrop

MentorDrop is for mentors, experts and coaches who support clients individually or in groups: coaching programs, mentoring services, memberships and cohorts. It works whether you answer alone or with a team, and whether you have a learning platform or get by with simple tools. This guide explains who it fits, who it does not, and why.

Quick answer

  • It fits if your clients ask you between classes or sessions and those questions land today in WhatsApp, email, forms or comments.
  • It fits if you already have a platform (Hotmart, Kajabi, Moodle, Circle, your site) and do not want to migrate anything.
  • It fits if you answer the same questions again and again and want a good answer to keep helping.
  • It does not fit if you want to replace your LMS, a generic chatbot, or cheap transcription only.
  • Choose the tools that fit your service. Library, Events and Offers can be useful even if you do not need Q&A.

The problem it solves

A client asks a good question. You take the time to answer it. A few days later, the same question comes in through another channel. The answer is buried in WhatsApp, an email thread or an old Zoom recording. Finding it takes longer than answering again, so you start from scratch.

MentorDrop gathers those questions in one place, lets you reply by voice or in writing, and keeps useful answers inside the course for the next client. You answer it today; tomorrow another client asks it in a different way and already has somewhere to start.

Four common cases

Type of program What MentorDrop adds
Group coaching Collect questions between sessions without making yourself available around the clock. Each question session has its own dates and limits.
Mentor-led courses Share useful answers with the group and keep them available for future clients.
Mentor and expert teams Keep each course's questions organized and give everyone who replies one shared inbox.
Memberships and cohorts Give every new question a head start from the answers you gave in earlier editions, through similar answers.

Example: a course for launching services

Launchpad Mentoring, the fictional mentoring business in these guides, has a “Design and launch your service” space. Clients use “Implementation questions” throughout the program and “Offer review” for a one-off review. Emma replies from Studio; Maya reads the answer in the session where she asked.

This organizes the support around a course without replacing the course platform. Your lessons, payments and community can stay where they are. Follow the example with screenshots and steps.

For one person or a team

If you answer alone, MentorDrop gives you order: you know what is pending, who asked and which course they are in. If you answer with a team, each space has its own mentors and every question lands in the same inbox. Starter includes 2 team members; Core, 6; Pro, 15; Business, 50. With a platform or without one

MentorDrop is the expert question-and-answer layer added to the platform you already use. It does not try to replace Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, Moodle, Hotmart, Circle or your own website: your courses, content, community and payments stay there, and MentorDrop is embedded as a widget or shared with a link.

It can also be enough on its own, next to simple tools for payments and communication, without becoming an all-in-one platform. How to embed it is in Put MentorDrop on your platform.

A concrete profile

MentorDrop is built for:

  • mentoring teams, cohorts, memberships and programs with expert support;
  • clients who ask between classes or sessions;
  • answers spread today across WhatsApp, email, forms or comments;
  • a main platform already in place that you do not want to migrate;
  • programs where saving expert time is worth it.

Pricing follows that profile: you pick a plan by the size of your team. The audio you transcribe is measured in credits: one minute, one credit; other automatic work uses what it really costs.

Who it is not for

We say it plainly so you do not waste your time:

  • Anyone who needs certificates or graded quizzes. Library offers videos, texts and worksheets your team reviews, organized into sections, with progress and scheduled releases inside a Space, but it does not provide those assessment tools.
  • Anyone looking for a generic chatbot. MentorDrop's automatic answers (Q&A's similar answers and the answers to questions on a library's pieces) are put together only from what your team already answered and from your videos, and they say they were put together automatically and may be wrong.
  • Anyone who only wants cheap transcription. Transcription exists, but as part of replying by voice and searching your videos, not as a product.
  • Q&A without real questions. Q&A helps when clients ask for your guidance. For sharing videos or running events, start with Library or Events.
  • Bulk historical imports without a separate project and scope.

MentorDrop is also not going to become a CRM, a community, a funnel builder or an email marketing tool. That is a product decision, not a backlog. It does let you sell access to your Spaces with a Stripe account in your name.

How to know if it fits

Try it for 14 days, free and without a card, and watch three things: whether real questions arrive, whether you answer them from MentorDrop, and whether any shared answer gets used again. If all three happen, it fits. If you have questions before you start, write to hello [at] mentordrop.com.
