Frequently asked questions
Last reviewed: · MentorDrop
The most common questions before starting with MentorDrop, with short answers. If yours is not here, write to hello [at] mentordrop.com.
Quick answer
- Use Q&A, Library, Events, Qualify, Articles and Offers to answer clients, share content and manage the next steps of your service.
- It is not a general chatbot. In every new session, the sender may see right away an answer put together automatically from what your team already answered and from your videos (when something fits); it can be wrong, the submission still reaches a mentor, and you can turn it off.
- Your clients do not need another password. They get in with their email and a code.
- You pick a plan by the size of your team. Audio is measured in credits: one transcribed minute, one credit; other automatic features also use credits. No overage charges.
- 14 days free, no card required. If the trial ends without payment, the account becomes read-only.
What does MentorDrop replace?
Q&A brings client questions out of scattered chats and email threads. Library hosts videos, texts and worksheets, Events organizes live dates, Qualify assesses applications and Articles publishes your expertise on your website. Your courses, content, community and payments stay on the platform you already use; you can also sell access to your MentorDrop Spaces with Stripe. MentorDrop is shared with a link or embedded in that platform as a widget.
Does MentorDrop answer for me?
Only from your material, and you can turn it off. New sessions start with Show similar answers, then a mentor answers too: the sender can see a provisional answer while waiting for yours. With Only a mentor answers, every submission goes straight to you with nothing shown first. That provisional answer is put together automatically from what you or your team already answered (and from your transcribed videos), cites its sources and says it may contain errors. When your earlier answers do not cover the submission, nothing is shown; either way it reaches you.
In Library, Questions on each piece start Turned off. Once you turn them on: with Automatic answer and, if that is not enough, the team, the person asking can send the question on to the mentors; with Automatic answer only, the automatic answer is the only one and the question never reaches your team.
How do I avoid being available for questions all day?
Each session can have its own dates, rules and submission limits. It is clear when questions can be sent, so your availability stays within clear boundaries. You can run a one-off session around a specific topic or a recurring one for the whole course.
Do clients need another password?
No. Clients enter their email and receive a secure one-time code. MentorDrop can remember the browser, so there is no new password to create or remember. Only people with active access to the space get in.
Does it work with my platform?
You can share a space link from your platform. Showing its widget inside a page requires an editor and plan that allow external scripts and the frame they create. Check the specific Hotmart, Kajabi, Teachable, Thinkific, Moodle, WordPress, Circle or website page where you want to embed it. If the widget is not allowed, use the link. The steps are in Put MentorDrop on your platform.
What happens if I switch platforms?
Nothing. There is no migration: your submissions and answers live in MentorDrop and move with you. You only need to paste the widget or the link into the new platform.
What is a credit?
A unit for transcription and automatic work. One minute of transcribed audio uses one credit. Every plan includes credits per month: 300 on Starter, 900 on Core, 2,000 on Pro and 6,000 on Business. Writing and reading text submissions and answers uses no credits. Other automatic work uses credits at what it really costs: the similar answers shown on submitting (usually under one credit each), the answers to questions on pieces, the automatic submission titles and the articles you write. Qualify's automatic creation and evaluation also use credits: each call costs what it really costs, with no per-action maximum. Details in Pricing and plan limits.
Do videos use credits?
Storing and playing Library videos uses no credits. Storage has a plan limit, and playback is included with a reasonable-use reference of hours watched per month; playback is never cut for exceeding that reference. If you enable video transcription in a library, transcription uses credits. Q&A recordings also use credits when transcribed. Details in Pricing and plan limits.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Submissions keep arriving, you keep answering, and every recording is kept. Processing waits if credits or processing capacity are unavailable, and resumes when both are available. Billing shows your balance and whether processing is paused. You can wait for the monthly renewal or, on a paid plan, buy a pack of 1,000 credits for $59 or 59 € + VAT from Billing; buying a pack does not guarantee an immediate restart. Plan credits renew every month and do not accumulate; pack credits expire one year after purchase.
What if I need more people on my team?
Team seats cover you, your admins and your mentors: 2 on Starter, 6 on Core, 15 on Pro and 50 on Business. The cardless trial has 2 seats. When you need one more seat, move to the next plan. Existing members always stay; moving someone between mentor and admin uses no seat.
Is there a free plan?
There is no permanent free plan. There is a 14-day trial with no card with 2 team members and 300 credits for the whole trial. If it ends without payment, your account becomes read-only.
What happens if I pay during the trial?
The plan is charged that day and starts at once, with its credits, seats and storage. If you pay by day 14 of the trial, you get extra credits once as a gift: 1,000 with Starter, 5,000 with Core, 10,000 with Pro and 20,000 with Business.
What are extra credits for?
To bring what you already have into MentorDrop, like session recordings or your course videos, without eating into the month's credits. That way you can start on a smaller plan and move up only when your day-to-day use calls for it. They're used once the plan's credits run out and expire after a year.
Which currency do I pay in, and how do I cancel?
Each plan costs the same in US dollars and euros; checkout shows the currency for your location. Starter costs $39 or 39 € + VAT a month; yearly billing is $348 or 348 € + VAT (equivalent to $29 or 29 € + VAT a month). Core costs $99 or 99 € + VAT a month; yearly billing is $948 or 948 € + VAT (equivalent to $79 or 79 € + VAT a month). The annual amount is charged once; credits renew monthly. Every price excludes taxes, which are added at checkout. You buy from Studio, under Billing. Subscriptions renew until you cancel from the portal or by writing to hello [at] mentordrop.com, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
What can be read of other people's submissions?
When public answers are enabled for a session, anyone with access to the space can read answered cases that are not private. Otherwise, each account sees only its own cases. Your team can handle them in either mode. Public answers inside a space are not open Internet pages.
What happens to my clients' data?
You decide why your clients' data is used in your account; MentorDrop acts as your processor under your instructions. Automatic features receive only what is needed to transcribe and compare answers, and the optional site measurement never receives questions or answers. We explain it in Client privacy and data and in the Privacy Policy.
Can questions be sent by voice?
Yes. Add a voice field under the session’s Form tab for the initial submission. Configure recordings in later messages under Answers, separately for senders and mentors. Transcription has its own setting. Microphone permission is needed only when recording; camera or screen video depends on the options enabled.
Why can a client not get in even with the link?
For a private space, the link alone does not grant access: check the client’s email and active access in Studio › Users. An open space lets clients join with their name and email, unless their access has been revoked. If the session's Active session is off, the client does not see it either. See troubleshooting.
Do I have to use all six tools?
No. A public video, event or Qualify interview can be shared on its own. A space groups sessions, libraries and events for clients with access. Add the tools your service needs.
Can I release content gradually?
Yes. In each space, a library opens Always, When you open it, On a date, a number of Days after joining or When the previous one is finished. Inside it, its sections (or its pieces, when it has no sections) open All at once, When the previous one is finished or One every N days. You can also open it for one person from their profile, with Open library. See Library.
Does MentorDrop host the live call or send event reminders?
Use your external meeting room, such as Zoom or Meet. The event page shows the entry button from ten minutes before the start until the end. MentorDrop does not send event-registration confirmations or reminders: registrations reach your Kit list with the event's tags, and you set those up there. Without a list connected, or for any registration that did not reach the list, download them in Results to import them into your email tool. Whoever may attend gets Add to your calendar. You can attach a Library recording afterwards, including for each date of a recurring event. See Events.
Does an approved Qualify application give space access?
If you choose so. On the flow's Outcome tab, Give access to gives whoever gets a Pass access to the closed spaces you choose, with the email they used; you can remove it in Users › Clients. With no spaces chosen, Qualify only shows your configured outcome: its button can lead to a booking page or another next step, and a click does not confirm a booking or a payment. You can require manual review before approving each application. See Qualify.
Can I let people join a space freely?
Yes. Add your privacy policy in Settings › Integrations, enable Open space and people can join by verifying their name and email; entering subscribes them to your emails. An open space cannot be sold through an offer. Closing it ends freely obtained access but preserves separate manual or purchased access. See spaces and access.
How do I test everything before inviting the group?
Create a test account, grant it access to the space and sign in with it in a separate browser. Make a submission, answer it from Studio and check the result in that browser. The getting-started walkthrough includes screenshots of each part.
Are the mentoring teams in the screenshots real customers?
No. Impulso Mentoría and Launchpad Mentoring are fictional examples created in MentorDrop to explain the product. The screenshots show the real application; the names and conversations are demonstration data.
